Synopsis via Goodreads:

A planet at war. Two alphas forced into a political marriage. Attraction that defies all reason and logic… Or does it?

The Kingdom of Pelugia and the Republic of Kadar have been at war for decades. Peace isn’t popular, but the planet can’t survive without it.

Forced to marry an enemy prince for the sake of peace, Senator Royce Cleghorn doesn’t like his husband, his alpha scent, or his damned pretty blue eyes. More than anything, Royce hates what Haydn makes him become: a primitive alpha cliché who’ll do anything to mark his territory, even if that territory is his alpha husband. Royce likes omegas; he isn’t into alphas, no matter how pretty their eyes are. It’s just a weird territorial instinct. It has to be.

Prince Haydn has always tried to be the perfect alpha his father wants him to be. He’s the heir to the throne. He’s a war general. He isn’t supposed to bare his throat to an enemy alpha–and it isn’t supposed to feel so good. Everyone knows a marriage between two alphas is a recipe for disaster. He isn’t supposed to crave his alpha husband–their marriage is just a political arrangement, nothing more.

But when disaster strikes and loyalties are tested, which bond will be the strongest: their marriage, or their allegiances?

Review: I enjoyed this one. I’m still swimming in the omegaverse, just different author. No on-screen mpreg, so I’m good.

This was far less angsty than I expected. It had its moments, but it was actually a fun and cute story. I enjoyed the dynamic between Haydn and Royce. They were so cute fumbling around with each other trying to decide who would be the dominant one. Since both of them were alphas trying to save the fate of their planet, it was quite the challenge. They had me giggling at their antics quite often. While Haydn was fairly controlled and could handle being around Royce, Royce struggled. Immensely. He had a constant need to claim, scent and possess Haydn so everyone would know he was Royce’s.

“I… you’ll be offended.”
“Try me. I’m not easily offended.”
“I want to come on your face.”
Haydn stared at him.

However, when they finally figured it out? It was even sweeter to watch them fall for each other even more.

“…you prefer omegas.”

“I did. Until you.” Royce’s dark eyes gazed at him intently. “You’re my husband. You’re my mate whether you carry my mating mark or not. I kind of…” He swallowed, his jaw clenching a little and his cheekbones coloring. “In case you haven’t noticed, I’m kind of crazy about you.”

This was my first full-length novel from Ms. Hazard and I was not disappointed. Even though I gave this one a lower rating than most, I am curious about the rest of this series and more. It wasn’t bad by any stretch of the imagination. I enjoyed it, but i didn’t love it enough to kick it up to a 4-star rating.
