Author(s): Lauren Blakely
Genre: Romance
Publisher: Troliver Books
Heat: 3 Flames
Rating: 3 Hearts
Synopsis via Goodreads:
In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a life-long penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that’s no excuse to send ten drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake.
If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman.
I also used the phrase “super hot wingman,” so I’d like to die now.
Instead, I have to plan a wedding with the aforementioned hottie and share a too-small guesthouse in steamy Miami.
Three days in the sun with the cocky, charming former athlete who likes to push my buttons? Fine, two can play at that let’s-infuriate-each-other game.
Until Asher ups the stakes with one wildly sexy suggestion. A no-strings fling, then I go back to my single dad life in New York, and he returns to his star-studded one.
Sign me up.
But the more nights I spend with the other best man, the more I want days too, and that just can’t happen. Especially when I find out the real reason why…
Review:
This book was cute, and laugh out loud funny in places. The accidental text and the “superhot” wingman? I would have died. Flat out wished for the floor to open up and swallow me whole. Just sayin’
“Nothing except a time machine will erase the drunk texts I fired off last night somewhere between midnight and regret o’clock.”
This was a pretty polarizing read in my goodreads circle. You will likely either love it or hate it. It has its issues, but I found it a fun, easy read if you don’t take it too seriously. It’s not all that believable/very OTT, but I didn’t really care while I was reading it.
Asher & Mark were the opposites attract type of couple. Asher is a free-spirited former professional soccer player turned photographer and Mark is a bitter banker/divorced single dad which gives us some great banter. They get voluntold to go down to palm beach to verify wedding details for Mark’s sister a couple days before the wedding and find more than they bargained for in those two days alone. Mark has a spreadsheet of all the dirty things he’s wanted to do to someone since he figured out that he was into men after he was married and never got the opportunity; and Asher tries to check all of them off his list while they’re away.
The question is, will it last when they leave their little bubble return to New York after the wedding?
It’s cheesy as hell, but I spent a snowy day curled up at home reading this one. It was just what I needed to put a smile on my face.
