I’ve been reading m/m romance for well over ten years, at least. I had to take a break from reading for a bit while I was doing clinical rotations during my master’s because I just didn’t have the time. Before that, I used to be a very forgiving reader. Even my profile says it because it’s true. Or it was anyway. I find that this time around I’m a bit less so. I don’t know that my earlier reviews/ratings would hold up if I reread them today.
I signed up for an ARC service that analyzes your social media profiles, websites, etc., during their approval process, and it said that I am a strict reviewer. Perhaps that’s true now. I think it’s because I have less time and patience for things that I don’t like. I’m finding that I’m DNF’ing more books or giving them lower ratings than I used to in the past. I want my ratings to have some value. If I rate everything 5 stars, they don’t necessarily mean anything, y’know? The authors might appreciate the sentiment, but do they really value the rating? No one wants to get a bad review, but how do you know what’s good if you’ve never experienced the opposite? Reviews are all so subjective anyway. Just because l didn’t like it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t. I don’t know; maybe I’m just rambling…
I thought that I would pick out some of my favorite reads and covers for this past quarter since I’m procrastinating on finishing three or four reviews that I still have to post from the past couple of weeks. Malum Discordiae also can go into the favorite covers as well. It was a winner all around. I’m still working on that review. Always & Heated Rivalry can go under favorite covers, too, for that matter.

I still have reviews to write on Barred Desires, Malum Discordiae, Illicit, & How to Date a Dragon. Now, I’m struggling with what I want to read next. I start a new job at the end of April and I wonder how much time I will have to read. I will be working significantly more hours than I am now. But, it’s also significantly more money using my degree since I graduated at the end of last year. So, I’ll be able to afford more books! YaY! It’s why l tend to stick with KU books most often.
I’m looking at upgrading/updating this site a little bit. It’s been a few years since it’s been done. The current theme is no longer being offered or supported, and I’m unable to tweak anything anymore, so I want to change it. I’d like to drive more traffic to it and ultimately get more people to review with me so l can offer a wider range of genres, so we shall see. Those are my goals for this year. Hopefully, I will be able to achieve them.
I hope you guys have a great weekend. I’ll get those reviews out soon!
